Summary: I have thought long and hard about leaving a review for this stay. I believe if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. However i can say something nice so i will continue. Our arrival/first impression was very poor. The 'lady' who greeted us was rude,blunt and unwelcoming . The Hotel should check who was on duty on Monday 11th May at 4pm. I would advise they are sent on a hospitality refresher course. We weren't shown to our room, just told where it was. When i entered the room i cried it was dark,dingy and dated. We don't mind dated, this is an historic old building but it looked very 'unloved'. We would have addressed these issues but didn't feel able to due to the reception we had. Laterly in our stay we found other staff to be polite, and friendly. The barman and kitchen staff were lovely. My husband had a cooked full English breakfast which he said was really good. The door to our bathroom was really grubby with dirty fingerprints. The large shower head was dirty,i didn't shower because of this. On the morning of our departure we were given a continental breakfast which we took away with us.
